Movie of the Moment: Lost & Delirious (2001)
Lost and Delirious is a movie about a girl who is sent off to boarding school by her father and step-mother. Mary (Mischa Barton) seems to serve the purpose of a narrator in this film, as she is torn as well as stuck between her two new friends.
Tori (Jessica Parè) and Paulie (Piper Perabo) have been at the boarding school for a significant amount of time, they are part of the senior class. We are thrown into their relationship when it is at its apex and to witness its downfall.
All in all, this movie is a modern love story. Piper Perabo plays her character marvelously and in the most beautiful, poetic way. You can feel the sadness and ruin that is overtaking Paulie and every emotion that she must be going through when her heart is broken by the only person who has ever loved her.
At the beginning of the film I was unsure which direction the story was going and what part the characters were going to play, but by the end I had gotten so absorbed into it all that I could not take my eyes away. I watched through the credits and felt as if a little part of me had become forever lost in that story. It is gorgeous, poetic, and heartbreaking.
